PUPPY TO CHAMPION JUNE 2011Ben

IRISH SHOW CHAMPION GLENNARA COER DE LION

Celtic Winner 2010 and 2011 Annual Champion 2010

Ben was born on 23rd June 2008 in the UK at the Glanarra Kennels of his breeder Katrina Hall, by GB SH CH Caskey's Concept at Aoibheann out of GB SH CH Glanarra Fleur De Mai.

Whilst Ben was originally meant to be shown by Barty Kennedy of Cilleigne Gun Dog Kennel in Enniscorthy Co Wexford, it has been his son Ken who has handled him & been the driving force behind his career.

Ben's first major win came from the Irish Red Setter Club in Dublin, May 2009 where under judge Ronnie Blomme " Norcroft "( Belgium ) he was awarded Best Puppy In Show from a large entry, followed in June 2009 with Best Puppy In Show under judges Brenda Levick " Corriecas " & Geoff Coupe " Timadon " at the prestigious Joint Irish Setter Breed Club event, organised by The Irish Setter Association Of England. Remarkably Ben then took his third Best Puppy In Show at the Belfast & District Irish Setter Club in June 2009 under judge Richard Bott " Ouensha ", giving the team a very impressive hat trick of Club Show wins in both England & Ireland which brought a great deal of interest from both judges & fanciers regarding his future career.

Ben took his first Group 7 win under judge Maudie Burke " Sandwood " at The Hibernian Ch Show May 2010 & then went on to take Reserve Best In Show under judge Michael Forte, this was followed by another four Group wins in 2010.

Because of his IKC wins Ben had to be exhibited in Open Dog in the UK which was no mean feat for a young dog based in Ireland, at the North Eastern Irish Setter Club in October 2010 he won the Dog CC & Best In Show under judges Dr Rosemary Whitlock & Jose Baddeley, he then took the Group 7 win at the Celtic Winners Show in Dublin in March 2011 giving him the Celtic Winners title in the breed for both 2010/11, plus Ben has 2 CACIBs towards his International title.

This is a great record for a three year old dog in a slow maturing breed, he is lightly worked at home but to preserve his coat for the show ring most of his work in the field has been curtailed.
